William James Mingay born1752, gave
this Chandelier to St Peter's Church in Thetford, Norfolk, England. It is made
of brass with 20 candle holders, and is engraved with the words:
"Ex Don0 Jacobi Mingay Armigeri Domino Regi E Consilaris
Anno Domini 1791"
"Presented by James Mingay Armour Bearer To Our Lord
The King Privy Counsellor."
It was sold to St. John's Church, Winchester for £10 and the
carrier was paid 3 shillings and 6 pence, in about 1810. Winchester have a
record of this transaction. Apparently the candles are lit every Christmas
and New Years Eve!
